I don't usually find the patience to read Robert X Cringely's posts, but I did on this one .
Was is it wrong of Jobs to drop the price of the 8-gig iPhone from $599 to $399 less than three months after the product’s introduction? I'm undecided no on that. Was it a strategic move aimed to milk early adopters? I suspect so.
Has he beaten Gates? Depends on how you view life, but the numbers have to count.
"Apple is the best-managed computer company on Earth" - eh? how so?
caveat emptor.

I suppose net profit would be a good start?
You have any recent figures w.r.t. market share behind those Henk?

Not sure how you'd measure 'best managed'.
However, what many people don't realise is that Apple has more market share in laptops and desktops than Dell or HP!

Indeed. What a frightening waste of emotion! That being said, I think I'd have been HUGELY p*ssed off if I'd been fired as he was, but can understand why they made the call.

Scary guy! Interesting that Mr. Cringely believes that Steve's actions and strategies at Apple are in reaction to the humiliation of being fired in the eighties. I can really believe that. I think that many more business successes are powered by spite and revenge than we would believe.
