This has got to be one of the best April Fool's jokes I've seen in a long time. Google created an entirely fictitious "free internet" offering. They have pictures of how to flush the optic fibre connecter down the loo so their Plumbing Hardware Dispatcher (PHD) can collect it and connect it!
The fact that telco fibres have been run down oil pipelines in the US and old London Water pipes in the UK, and for all I know Sewage lines somewhere on the planet, makes this all the more plausible to begin with. In fact, many years ago Telkom bought the Capegas network of ducts under Cape Town streets mainly to prevent some enterprising type getting hold of them.
