I spotted the full page ads Telkom had in the Sunday Times for their new portal "do". But does it? I personally found it wryly amusing that they launch this with a bundled NetAccess_DSL package mere days after launching their wholesale DSL to ISPs. "Anticompetitive, who us?!"
Roger Hislop just mailed me on the topic.
Not quite sure what to make of it... it appears to be this Telkom portal into all sorts of amazing business, entertainment stuff (movies! music downloads! games! back rubs!) -- except there is nothing there except links to telkom's existing products, or links to third party companies (itunes, youtube). The music downloads are not yet up, the "movies" is actually just links to ster kinekor etc, wrapped in in garbled nonsense about how broadband is going to set us free.
And it's all done in Flash so you can't go back to where you were.
And if you click on most of the "ads" it doesn't work at all, seeming to suggest that they're just there for colour.
So Telkom is trying to funkify their business? Do some marketing that doesn't suck? Except it sucks royally?
/me *looks baffled*
mmm... the navigation ain't great and I can't find some of the stuff they refer to. Can anyone see what their VoIP rate is to call landlines?
