Picked this up on the Voice over IP weblog this morning.
"Microsoft has revealed a small business IP phone system and it has been code named Response Point. Available in easy to install box, the new system is supporting both VoIP and traditional phone lines and has a voice activated user interface."
"A small-business employee can press one button on the handset of a cordless phone and then access anyone in the company directory, anyone in his Outlook contacts, and a range of calling features with a few simple words. That is a very powerful user experience."
I have to be honest, I'm not a huge Microsoft fan, mainly because their market dominance allows them to charge way too much and of course the blue screen of death has something to do with it too. But this will have an impact on the IPPBX and VoIP market, purely because of the interface with what has become a ubiquitous business tool... the Outlook contacts folder.
I will be keeping a beady eye on this.
