SA Blog Awards - time to nominate your favourites

One of the best parts of blogging is the freshness of content. Someone, somewhere is cooking up something interesting, intelligent, relevant, funny, worth a read. You just have to find it!

I was totally unaware that the SA Blog Awards existed.  It seems to have been going since 2005. There is a magnificent prize of R20.07 for the Best of the Best, so I'm looking to enhance my Storm salary here - vote for me! <rolls about in mirth>

There are a bunch of categories...

... including "Best new blog" and "Best SA blog about tech / computers / web development" which Hitting the Wire could qualify for.  This site does not come close to some of the finely crafted creations out there, tended with loving care and enthusiasm that makes me think I’ve missed out on a secret stash of hours in the day somewhere that others have found.  But, what the hell - in for a penny, in for a pound (latest SMS from Master Currency puts that at R14.33, just less than R20.07! ;)

Nominations from the general public are open from 12 February 2007 to 26 February 2007.  That's when you can put forward names of blogs you think are worthy of consideration.

After 26 February 2007, the blogger panel (real bloggers, not hackers like me) will review the nominated blogs (taking into account relevance and quality) in each category and submit for their individual top 10 in each. The votes will be tallied and the top blogs resulting from this will go through to the finals.

Final voting will be open to the public from the Monday 5 March 2007 'til midnight Friday 16 March 2007.  That's when you make your final choices.

The awards ceremony will take place in Johannesburg on Friday 30 March 2007.

I'm trying to twist Tim's arm to pony up for a more substantial prize for "best of the best" which is not such a good idea for me personally, as it would prelude me from winning it, but I've got two chances of that, one slim and the other fat... so I'll persist!
